Mitigation Strategies
We partner with law firms to create lessons and courses that empower their clients to develop self-directed, comprehensive mitigation strategies. Our materials provide clear, step-by-step guidance, helping people build compelling records of accountability, document personal growth, and take proactive steps toward favorable sentencing outcomes. By following our structured approach, people can demonstrate genuine transformation and present a stronger case for mercy or leniency at every stage of their journey. Neither the client nor the lawyers pay for the self-directed lessons our nonprofit provides.

Understanding the Process
Our self-directed lessons clearly explain each critical phase of the judicial process—including plea negotiations, presentence investigations, and sentencing preparation. By offering comprehensive guidance, we help clients become informed participants, enabling attorneys to focus their valuable time and expertise where it matters most.

Understanding Sentencing
We offer resources to help people understand federal sentencing guidelines and the importance of building a compelling mitigation strategy. Our structured lessons guide individuals to document their efforts, demonstrate accountability, and provide attorneys with persuasive evidence to advocate effectively for mercy and leniency at sentencing.
Mitigation Strategies
An effective mitigation strategy must be comprehensive, clearly documented, and ongoing. Our resources help people understand which mitigation tasks to complete at each stage, presenting a cohesive narrative of accountability, growth, and commitment to reconciliation with society. With this iterative approach, clients continuously strengthen their case for improved outcomes.

Reframing the Narrative
We help members of our community use every day productively to create better outcomes for the future—at sentencing, during incarceration, through supervised release, and in rebuilding their careers. Our free Prison Professors Talent program allows individuals to document their personal growth and preparation transparently, creating a powerful record that can influence decision-makers and lead to greater success.
Release Plan
We encourage members of our community to build a comprehensive release plan. They can continue to develop the plan while serving the sentence, using it as a resource to assist their self-advocacy campaigns. A good plan will show their introspection. By giving thought to the reasons for their incarceration, they've been able to take next steps, engineering a pathway to a better life, one that shows their commitment to living as a law-abiding, contributing citizen.

Post Conviction
All people who enter the system want the highest level of liberty, at the soonest possible time. They may not know what steps they can take after the conviction or sentencing hearing to self-advocate. While in prison, they may want to consider appeals, habeas petitions, compassionate release, or executive clemency. They may need guidance on steps they can take to self-advocate. It's never too early, and never too late to start sowing seeds for a better outcome.
