To empower ourselves while climbing from adversity to success, we've got to be authentic. We don't grow confidence by talking. We have to take meaningful steps, adhering to a plan we established on our pathway to success. If we prioritize our actions, then develop our tools, tactics, and resources, our commitment becomes self-evident.

We build authenticity when we show the process we took to get the results we want. Living transparently makes it possible for us to believe in us. Our discipline inspires others. When they see us staying consistent with our actions, and those actions align with our plans, they find it easier to believe in us, to join our pursuit of excellence.
Lead by Example
People devoted to their craft stay the course that they set, or they set a new course that will allow them to reach different goals. If we're the CEO of our life, we assess the world and the opportunities. Then we set a course that we believe will allow us to reach our highest potential. Such a path empowers us, showing our authenticity.
Cultivate Resilience
Adversity opens opportunities. While in prison, lessons from Marcus Aurelius helped me to see that I could empower my mind by thinking about the future I wanted to create. Even while locked in solitary, I could think. Thinking requires discipline. We learn how to focus on what we can control, and persevere through discomfort, building resilience.
Greater Purpose
To build authenticity, we should show that we've thought about our relationship to the broader community. When others recognize that we're working for more than our personal gratification, they're more inclined to join forces with us. Whether through mentoring, sharing lessons, or building communities, we enrich ourselves when we serve others.

To live authentically, embrace challenges, and ensure all work reflects your commitment to excellence and integrity. If we make excuses for the reasons we cannot navigate our way to prosperity, or a better life, we fail to inspire others. When we plan, prioritize our actions, and build, we're doing the hard work that leads to authenticity.
Discipline as a Cornerstone
Control your mindset and actions to develop discipline. Your discipline should become a cornerstone for your adjustment. I learned these lessons from leaders who wrote about the ways that they transitioned from struggle to lives of meaning, relevance, and dignity. Build discipline by focusing on the virtue of daily accountability.
Serve Others
Make the right decisions today to open opportunities tomorrow. While in solitary, I learned how discipline could lead to better thinking skills. Through introspection, I could learn to accept responsibility. To reconcile, I had to learn how to become more valuable. New skills would allow me to live a life of meaning and contribution.
